I can’t even imagine a childhood where RC wasn’t still a scrappy-but-ubiquitous competitor to Coke and Pepsi. We used to call it “Royal Crap” even though it was just as good as the others. Maybe better.

Well I’ve failed to find this one on Street View. Main st. is still there obviously, and the diagonal parking remains, but they’ve added trees which makes it very hard to identify the store fronts. I was hoping to spot the distinctive brickwork on the billiards parlor, the grid facing on the market, or that two-story brick building, but wasn’t able to located any of them.

Nehi and a coney island?

Kinja'd!!!

Leftmost car is a 37 Ford, then what looks like a 33-34 Chevy, then a Model A, then a ~33 Willys coupe (note the now rare cast wheels), then another M odel A, then a 33-34 Ford, then a ~35 Ford coupe, and more.

They are the cola at the Pittsburgh Pengiuns games. I had to look up who owns the company apparently it is “ Keurig Dr. Pepper.”

Looks like a ~35 Chevy 3 window coupe.

I visited a local diner in Portland many years ago that only served RC. Only time in my (long) life I encountered that. Was not happy.

I was likewise unsuccessful. I found a building with the crosshatching of the billiard parlor, but nothing else matched. Hard to believe they would have torn down all of it, but who knows? That was almost 80 years ago.

Apparently Stradley’s Market was 1017 Main St, which appears to be King Sushi now. Either that whole strip of buildings has been heavily renovated, or demolished and replaced. I’m guessing this was taken at the corner of 10th & Main.
